About KHXW

KHXW first went on the airwaves at Critical NW in 2023. We honored the event’s tradition of opening each broadcast day with “Morning Train,” and followed with pre-recorded playlists in a variety of styles, ending with peaceful, sleep-friendly music from around midnight through 4am.

We play just about everything, with an emphasis on independent, genre-bending artists, and mainstream and classic tracks that have a deep influence on the music-verse.

The Beacon was designed and constructed by Leeny and Luke, and made possible by an art grant courtesy of Ignition Northwest, for Critical NW 2023.

Leenerella is the station manager, program director, and head DJ for KHXW. She was a theatrical sound designer and college radio DJ at CWU in the 90s. She has been burning since 2000, and officially joined her home camp, BRC Hardware, in 2008. Since there is little demand for a Hardware Shoppe at regional events, and there were no radio stations currently at the festival, she decided to build KHXW as a gift to the community, and an outlet for musical nerdery, audio engineering, and on-air skills.

In winter of 2024, she hooked up with the Shouting Fire network to bring her show online, and drop a little wisdom to soothe your worried mind.  Come back for more details, or follow @khxwradio on Instagram for timely updates!
